Ty's Class Valentines

This past week I've been making valentines for Ty to pass on to his class next week. I finally got them finished last night, so I thought I would share them with you.

He specifically requested Lego Harry Potter valentines and of course I couldn't find them anywhere, so I cabbaged some pics from the Internet and made my own.

The colorful tubes that are attached are kaleidoscopes we picked up
several months ago on sale. We've been saving them for something like this.

I worked forever on these because I wanted a watermark or light image of a castle behind Harry.  I found one and had it just right, but for some reason it WOULD NOT let me print. It was causing my printer to say that the memory was too low for the print job.  I tried everything. Well, everything except a different pic anyway, because I really liked that one. :(  So finally, after too many hours I just decided that if I couldn't have that one, then I just wouldn't have any! (Actually, I was just tired and stressed, so I just deleted it and moved on.)

I think they turned out cute. What do you think?

Now, I have to concentrate on Ty's Birthday party stuff for next week. I'll try to post pics of some of the decorations as I go. If I get tight on time, I will show you after the party, lol.

And yes, of course it's a Harry Potter birthday party.

What else would it be?

Bragging Rights! Whoo hoo!

I just want to take a quick moment to brag on my boy. I AM SO PROUD!!!

This letter was in Ty's backpack this evening:

Dear Tyler,

As your principal, I would like to take this time to congratulate you on being the student with the highest math score of all the kindergarten grade students on the first Early Skills Assessment.

Again congratulations on this achievement! Yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah, the rest isn't really important.

Sincerely,

Your Principal

I am so proud. I really am.  Yet, I can't help but jokingly wonder who the kindergartner is that scored higher in reading than him.  Ty is reading the first page of each chapter in Harry Potter every evening with little to no help. WE HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED WORKING ON MATH YET!!!

LOL! I guess it just proves once again that he is just about practically perfect!  ;-) In my eyes anyway!

HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE WEEKEND!!

His First Last Day of School :(

I am such a dork. I can not believe that I am  actually emotional over this but, I guess I am.  Today, is Ty's last day of school this year. His FIRST, last day of school.

On the surface that should be a good thing. Meaning, he has many more last days of school, Right? You would think so but, for my hormonal roller coaster of a brain, it means he already has 1 year behind him.  It means he will be in Kindergarten in just a few short months.  I just can't believe how fast this year has gone by and that means he is growing up waaayyy too fast.

When I hold him in my lap when we read or sometimes when I just sit and watch him sleep, I don't see a school boy.  I see is the smoothness of his skin, and the baby fat that rounds his features. I see chubby hands and fingers. I see a baby. My baby.

This parenting thing is oodles tougher than anyone ever let on.  I can handle the discipline side to parenting, and the worries, and the work, and the sacrifices.  For me, the hardest part is feeling a love so deep and so true fill up my heart until I don't think I can stand it any longer. My heart feels as though it may burst at any moment. It not only takes my breath away, it takes away the ability to breathe.  It overwhelms me.

Actually, it pretty much just scares the crap out of me.
